West Ham: Cesc Fabregas heading to the Hammers?
West Ham are monitoring the status of Cesc Fabregas at Chelsea and will offer the Spaniard a move to the Hammers if his Chelsea woes continue.
Cesc Fabregas is having a rough time at Chelsea under Antonio Conte. However, West Ham are hoping to provide the midfielder with a route out of Stamford Bridge, according to the Mirror.
Fabregas has struggled to get into Conte’s shambolic midfield and was dragged off after 55 minutes of Chelsea’s embarrassing defeat to Arsenal on Saturday. Conte continues to struggle to find his best lineup, and the Italian does not seem to be a believer in Fabregas to date.
The 29-year-old is wonderfully gifted but has defensive deficiencies, like a lot of players, that need accounting for. Conte seems either unwilling to do so or lacking the players to do so. In his estimation, anyway.

It’s difficult to imagine a player of Fabregas’ quality joining West Ham, with all due respect. But if the midfielder wants guaranteed game time, maybe it appeals in that sense. Where would West Ham fit Fabregas in their team?
Could they do it any better than Chelsea can in theirs? Slaven Bilic tends to field a central midfield pairing of Cheikhou Kouyate and Mark Noble. Would Fabregas usurp either of those two to get into the West Ham team?
Fabregas is clearly the best player, but where would he fit best? Fabregas in a two-man midfield is never good, as Chelsea saw last season. So it is unlikely he would get into the West Ham team in that position. What about higher up the pitch?
Dimitri Payet is a certainty and can play anywhere among an attacking three behind a lone striker. Michail Antonio has been magnificent this season, so it would be harsh to drop the Englishman. Manuel Lanzini would seem the obvious pick right now.
An attacking three of Payet, Fabregas and Antonio would have plenty of goals and creativity. If only the Hammers had a striker for them to play behind! Simone Zaza is yet to get going after joining, while Andre Ayew, Andy Carroll and Diafra Sakho are all struggling with injuries.
Fabregas would be an unbelievable signing for the Hammers were it to happen. Despite his past with rival London clubs, the class of the player speaks for itself. Why would Chelsea even let Fabregas go, though? There would surely be rivals for his signature, too.
Whilst Fabregas is clearly not performing as he has in the past, is that due to the player himself or the team and environment he currently finds himself in? It’s not as if Chelsea have been flying the last two years whilst Fabregas has labored.

Maybe Conte needs to look at the players around Fabregas, rather than the player himself. There are a million problems at Chelsea right now. Fabregas should not necessarily be the first out the door.
Maybe he wont be. But if he is, and he was to join West Ham, it would be one of the biggest surprise transfer in recent years.
