Looking ahead to the 2016-17 Premier League season, which five teams are more likely to win the title?
This year, the Premier League title will be won by either Leicester City or Tottenham Hotspur. If you’ve time travelled from August 2015 to read this article, this isn’t a typo. But can either team sustain their success, or will the heavyweights of the league return to the top?
For Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea, this was a down year. Surely one of the four teams will rise back up the table and meet high expectations. All four clubs have a ton of money to throw at star players. Of course, it needs to be spent wisely, but these teams all have a big draw to top players.
For Chelsea and one of City, United or Arsenal, however, the lure of Champions League soccer won’t be there. Chelsea will fall well short of the top-four, and with Leicester and Spurs taking up two spots, only two of those three can get in.
Let’s look beyond this season’s title race and look to next year’s. Let’s rank the teams most likely to win the Premier League in 2017.
