Premier League’s All-Time Best XI
By Ben Church
Centre-Back: Rio Ferdinand
The Manchester United legend beat off so much competition to win his place in our side. The likes of Tony Adams, Vidic and Campbell were unlucky not to feature but Ferdinand may just be the greatest defender the league has ever seen.
He was the first in a new breed of centre-back, equally as comfortable on the ball as without it. Ferdinand was one of the best signings of Alex Ferguson’s reign.
He was a natural born leader as well as winner, demonstrated by his 6 Premier Leagues and 1 Champions League title.
The legend played 312 times for the Old Trafford outfit and established himself as a starter as soon as he joined for a record breaking £30 million fee.
