Premier League Round Six: The good, the bad and the ugly
The Ugly
The Wind-Up Master
Diego Costa is a good striker. He is even better at crazy antics and getting under the skin of his opponents. He is so good at it, in fact, that he gets the ugly section to his own this week.
Costa provided more of the same when he riled up Gabriel Paulista enough to get him sent off. Costa also got away with smacking Laurent Koscielny in the face.
Now it seems an argument has broken out about whether or not Costa is a dirty player. In my opinion he is a good striker and also a dirty player.
Costa frequently messed with Real Madrid duo Sergio Ramos and Pepe enough to get them off track while he was playing for Atletico Madrid.
He also has previous history with Gabriel when the duo would face off during Atletico’s matches with Villarreal. There was one instance where Costa elbowed Gabriel in the stomach. Gabriel made the most of this action by flopping onto the pitch and writhing in pain.
I would say that Costa was perhaps attempting to attain some measure of payback from Gabriel, but the reality is that Costa does this sort of thing to everyone – prior history or not.
Seeing Costa do this to people week after week gets old, but there is one opponent I would love to see Costa take on – and he plays for AFC Wimbledon.
What on Earth would Costa do to wind him up? And what would The Beast do in response?
I will leave you with two more of the best Diego Costa memes:
