Now, this just seems like a panic-buy. After failing to sign John Stones from Everton FC, the Blues had to look elsewhere for a replacement in defense.

The FC Nantes defender is said to have completed a medical at the club and is set for a £2.7 million transfer. It is still unknown why Chelsea FC would settle for the 27-year-old Senegalese defender after being linked with Raphael Varane and Ezequiel Garay.

It looks like the French club would not put much of a fight to the sale. Papy Djilobodji is on his last year of his contract with the club. A move to the Premier League with the champions of England is too good of a chance to refuse.
