While this move will not be one away from Southampton FC, this transfer rumor has a lot to do with the Saints back line. Signing for the club last season on a season long loan deal, Toby Alderweireld became one of the Saints best defenders.
Becoming a staple on Southampton FC’s back line, the Belgium international impressed many in the Premier League with his superb performances last season. His strength and speed provided the side with one of the world’s top defenders.
Battling though a separated shoulder to feature in the side’s final matches of last season, Alderweireld is set not only for a new club this summer but a pay raise to go along with it. The club leading that race, there only the defending Premier League Champions.
Chelsea FC have become the leaders in the race to sign Alderweireld, with Jose Mourinho loving the Belgian’s work ethic it is only a matter of time before Toby Alderweireld becomes a leader on the Chelsea back line.
Also helping his case in joining Chelsea will be his Belgium teammate Eden Hazard. The defending PFA player of the year will likely attempt to convince Jose Mourinho of the players overall skill and ability.
