Southampton FC Transfer News: Saints Players Likely to Leave This Summer
Nathaniel Clyne — Right Back — Liverpool and Manchester United
One of the two most wanted men currently with the Saints, Nathaniel Clyne is almost certainly leaving the side this summer. The only question remains as to where the England right back will end up playing his club ball next season.
Both Liverpool and Manchester United remain interested in the player and it now appears that Southampton is willing to sell. Signing Cedric Soares appears to be a calculated move by Ronald Koeman, who is now likely resigned to losing his star defender.
While both Liverpool and Manchester United are interested in the England National Team member, neither have hit the Saints asking price. At £15 million, Southampton FC will continue to resist the sale of their best defender until their asking price is met.
Nathaniel Clyne is likely to accept a move to either side. Though Liverpool can give first team starts right off the bat to Clyne, Manchester United can offer the lure of Champions League football next season.
One item that could help Liverpool’s case should Clyne be asked to choose is the vast number of former Saints players at Liverpool. Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert and Dejan Lovren could play a key role in this transfer rumors outcome.
