The opening Saturday of the Premier League season is viewed by many in the world as a world holiday. It is the day when Premier League clubs return to action after almost three months away from the pitch.

However, this day has more meaning for the supporters of AFC Bournemouth. Winning the English Championship on the last day of the season, AFC Bournemouth earned Premier League promotion for the first time in the clubs history.

Relegated to League Two in 2008, Bournemouth were a few points away from leaving the football league altogether in 2009. Administration had hit the club and many believed that it’s days were numbered.

Taken over at the end of 2009, AFC Bournemouth was promoted the next season back to League One. Now, the Cherries are prepared to grace the Premier League with their presence.

While the match will be mostly about Bournemouth, Aston Villa will also be looking to start the new season. Tim Sherwood’s first full season in charge at Villa will be very telling as the club looks to rebound from a very tough Premier League season.
