While sponsor anxiety has been growing for many years now, recent corruption arrests by the United States and Switzerland have turned the governing body on it’s head. Even worse for FIFA, it comes days before it’s second biggest event.
The 2015 Women’s World Cup is set to kickoff on June 6th in it’s new expanded format. First played in 1991, the Women’s World Cup has grown to become FIFA’s second biggest event behind the World Cup.
Continuing in it’s exponential growth pattern, the Women’s World Cup has grown once again this year. Unlike in previous iterations, the 2015 edition of the tournament will feature 24 nations. The competition had previously hosted 12 nations for the 1991 and 1995 tournaments before growing to 16 nations until now.
These nations, not ranked in any particular order, have the best chance at winning the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
