Captain. Leader. Legend. How true these 3 words are when talking about John Terry. On the wrong side of 30 and being dropped from the team during Rafa Benitez’s stint, he again proved himself to be a stalwart for Chelsea by playing every minute of every match this season.

He has been one of the best central defenders this season and due to his leadership, not only did Chelsea concede one of the least number of goals this season, his presence on the pitch along with Mourinho on the sidelines brought back that swagger in the team which made them bullish and difficult to break down mentally and also defensively. At the age of 34, his positioning and his tackles along with maintaining the shape of the defensive line has been impeccable.

Also his goal scoring prowess has made him the top scoring defender of all time in the Premier League with 39 goals surpassing David Unsworth. With the performances he put up this season, Terry is a worthy nominee and it won’t be a surprise if he wins it.
