4. Didier Drogba’s time as a player is finished

With injuries to Diego Costa and Loic Remy, Jose did not have any option but to choose Drogba to the lead the line for Chelsea. Drogba scored in this fixture when Chelsea visited Old Trafford earlier this season, with a classic header.

Unfortunately, it was disappointing to see The King in this match. Chelsea were on the back foot for most of the match which meant Drogba was the only player in a Blue shirt in the Red half of the pitch. He held the ball well at times, but his passes were miserable which broke down promising counter attacking moves.

Also his timing of the runs were not accurate as he was caught offside on some occasions which resulted in the failure of many Chelsea attacks.

With performances such as these, it is clear that Drogba’s best years are behind him. According to rumors he wants to play for another term at Stamford Bridge, but I think Chelsea must go into the market for a third striker or search within their own youth ranks (Bamford especially). The King will always bear a huge influence at the Bridge, but unfortunately won’t be much use on the pitch anymore.
