As ever, the Manchester Derby failed to disappoint, providing that ever-present mix of brilliance, tenacity and nerves, which ensures that this fixture is always the first one which people look for when dates are released. Manchester City eventually came out 1-0 winners in the end, although this scoreline doesn’t accurately reflect the number of chances City had, nor the disadvantage Manchester United were put at when Chris Smalling was sent off.
