Manchester United welcome Swansea City to Old Trafford in Louis van Gaal’s debut

MANCHESTER UNITED V SWANSEA CITY

The long awaited managerial of legendary Dutch headmaster Louis van Gaal is nearly upon us.  Old Trafford is set to welcome Swansea City under Gary Monk (in his first full season in charge) in the lunchtime kickoff.

Despite LvG bringing reinstalling plenty of confidence in the team and already garnering faith from the support, he’ll have to hope that the thin-red-line that is his defense holds firm against an underrated Swansea attack that includes new arrivals Gylfi Sigurdsson and Bafetimbi Gomis.

United are still without Robin van Persie, but will still be able to call upon the likes of new captain Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata, Ander Herrera and the rest of the United attacking options on offer, though Luke Shaw has been ruled out for a month with a hamstring injury and will have to wait to make his debut.

Predicted Starting XI’s

United (3-5-2): David De Gea; Johnny Evans, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling; Ashley Young, Ander Herrera, Juan Mata, Darren Fletcher, Antonio Valencia; Danny Welbeck, Wayne Rooney

Swansea (4-2-3-1): Lukasz Fabianski; Neil Taylor, Ashley Williams, Jordi Amat, Angel Rangel; Sung-Yung Ki, Jonjo Shelvey; Jefferson Montero, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Nathan Dyer; Wilfried Bony
