Stop…take a deep breath…and smile; have you done that? Good! Now start dancing in the streets (or, well, your place of residence is probably more appropriate and less embarrassing), because the Premier League season kicks off tomorrow! Yes, yes my fellow footballing fanatics, life is complete once again.
No matter what talking point or debatable topic you weigh in on, this has the makings of an absolutely incredible season, that could well outshine last years excitement. It’s hard to imagine how the capitulation of United in the post Sir Alex world can be matched. When you add Liverpool’s improbable charge to the top (and then their collapse), Arsenal finally ending their trophy drought and Everton becoming a force in the Premier League, how can this season compare?
Come may, this is all that matters to so many players, managers and supporters alike – who will lift it?
If you just add Louis van Gaal to the Premier League list of world class managers, who’s goal is to immediately fix the debacle that was David Moyes’ tenure at Old Trafford, that should be more than enough. Liverpool are back in Champions League, another Dutch legend in Ronald Koeman took the reigns at Southampton after upstart manager Mauricio Pochettino bailed for Tottenham, Jose Mourinho finally remembered how to assemble a trophy winning side; the list goes on of reasons to excited.
While I could go on and on (and I have not even listed the transfer activity), you all know what the summer has given us, and what that could mean for the season. That being said, let’s let the staff at WeAreHooligans weigh on how they think the season will play out.
