Five tree-top level Premier League transfers
Remy Cabella was a standout performer for Montpellier, helping them to a league title, an appearance in Champions League, and eventually breaking into the France squad.
Remy Cabella (Montpellier to Newcastle; 12million pounds)
While Southampton can’t seem to hold on to any of their players, Newcastle cannot seem to stop bringing players in. Such was the horrendous nature of the Newcastle attack last season (they failed to find the net in 12 matches after the christmas break), that this summer, it seems to be the only type of player they’re interested in purchasing (with the exception of Daryl Janmaat, who replaced Mathieu Debuchy).
While Siem de Jong, Ayoze Perez, Facundo Ferreyra and Emmanuel Riviere are all very good signings for the Magpies, it’s the capture of Remy Cabella that should warrant the most praise in Geordie country. If you want a watered down version of what they’ll get out of the Frenchman, think a massively upgraded Hatem Ben Arfa; say what you will about HBA, but he’s a very talented footballer, but Cabella shines far brighter than him.
Cabella already has Champions League experience under his belt during his time at Montpellier, where he also won a Lique 1 title with the club as well. His talent is matched by his hunger for success, and his abilities as a footballer are taylor made for a successful run in the Premier League.
Newcastle have had a tradition of successful wingers at the club; David Ginola, Nolberto Solano, Laurent Robert and yes, Hatem Ben Arfa as well. With plenty of Frenchman in at the club before the transfer window, further additions of Gallic flavor to the Magpie stew will certainly make it easier for Cabella to settle comfortable and quickly to his new surroundings; once he has his footing, his performances that dazzled in his home country will surely take root in the north of England.
