Dusan Tadic was, without question, one of the most lethal and feared attacking players in the Eredivisie for FC Twente.

Dusan Tadic (FC Twente to Southampton; 10million pounds)

Southampton have gone through what can only be described as a torrid time this summer.  Transfer dealings with the club have seen Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert, Luke Shaw, Dejan Lovren and Calum Chambers all leave St. Mary’s stadium for Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal.  Further troubles could result if Morgan Schneiderlin and Jay Rodriguez force through their move to Tottenham to reunite with former boss Mauricio Pochettino; it could all go horribly wrong in Ronald Koeman’s first season in charge of the south coast club.

While Soton are linked with, well, interesting moves to replace those who have left, the acquisition of Serbian attacking-midfielder Dusan Tadic must be one that is heralded as a bit of a transfer coup.  Tadic, a goal scoring midfielder with immense technical ability, has never flown above the radar.  Happily rampaging in the Eredivisie with FC Twente and being a Serbian international, Tadic never featured for a side that drew much attention; but make no mistake, he is highly talented.

It is worth noting, that last season in the Eredivisie, no midfielder was rated higher than him, and only new club-mate Graziano Pelle (under Koeman at Feyenoord at the time) was rated better over all than the Serbian dynamo.

All you need to do is ask our own Ross Bramble (who you can follow on Twitter @rossbramble) about just what kind of player Tadic has already shown himself to be this pre-season for the Saints.  While attacking signings like Alexis Sanchez, Lazar Markovic and many others have the media’s attention, no one should be surprised if/when Tadic not only makes Soton supporters forget who Adam Lallana was, but surpasses the former captain in achievements at the club.
