FW Wayne Rooney (England):

He never should have started for England in the first place. Roy Hodgson never seemed to have gotten a clue after Rooney’s string of awful performances in the pre-World Cup friendlies, but the Manchester United striker was never fit to play for England in the World Cup. Despite scoring one goal and notching an assist, Rooney killed England’s attacking rhythm in the final third and made one too many clumsy touches on the ball. In addition, Wazza wasted so many opportunities at goal that could have given England the game.  Rooney may be remembered as one of the finest strikers in Manchester United’s history, but his tenure for England is beyond unforgettable.
