Manchester City have gotten off to an even better start to this season. In what comes as no surprise after the Citizens won the treble last time out, Pep Guardiola has rallied his troops and guided them a flawless start this season. Today, they face West Ham United away from home and hope to make it an impressive five wins from five.

Manchester City tried to sign Lamine Yamal in the summer

But things could’ve looked a lot different this season, as a recent finding has demonstrated. According to Marca, Manchester City “came with everything” in their power to try and sign the youngster Lamine Yamal from Barcelona in the summer.

Followers of Spanish football will know that the 16-year-old Lamine Yamal has made his breakthrough for Barcelona this season and is a regular in their starting eleven. He plays with great maturity and is dubbed to be one of the next best players in the world.

Of course, Pep Guardiola knows a great footballer when he sees one. Therefore, it’s no surprise to see he was interested in this amazing starlet from his former club. Who knows? Perhaps when the January transfer window rolls around, Pep will be in contact with Barcelona once again with the aim to sign Lamine Yamal.

Manchester City have their own amazing young talents. The likes of Phil Foden, Erling Haaland and Rico Lewis all have aspirations to become world beaters and under the tutelage of Pep Guardiola, the best manager of all time, they could certainly achieve that goal.

At the moment, the January transfer target for Pep Guardiola seems to be Evan Ferguson from Brighton and Hove Albion. It’s known that Manchester City are big fans of him and would like to partner Ferguson with Erling Haaland. Time will tell if Yamal is added to their January shortlist.

Do you think Manchester City will sign Lamine Yamal?
