West Ham United had a good summer transfer window in the end. Despite losing some of their best players, David Moyes did well to bounce back and replace them. In fact, the Hammers have impressed many supporters by starting the season well, as they appear to have exceeded expectations already this season.

But with the Europa League campaign in mind, David Moyes is weary that he’ll need to rotate his squad more than he’d like to. This comes with the territory of playing in European competition, something which he knows well enough given their infamous Conference League campaign last season.

Throughout the summer transfer window, there was talk that they might bring back their former loanee Jesse Lingard. Of course, being released by Nottingham Forest, the ex-Hammer, who impressed on his loan spell in London, is looking for a new club. He has been training with West Ham, but it was thought to be for fitness purposes only.

West Ham United consider a one-year contract for Jesse Lingard

However, David Moyes has given his stance a second thought, and now is considering a one-year deal for Jesse Lingard. According to the Daily Mail, though, he would like assurances about the Englishman’s commitment to giving his all for the club before he tables the one-year contract offer.

Certainly, they have a good working relationship together. They were together throughout their spells at both Manchester United and West Ham. Therefore, Moyes has a good understanding of the player and the conditions he needs for his development.

Hammers fans would certainly be excited about the prospect of Lingard returning. He had a good stint on loan throughout 2021, so he could hopefully recreate that if he signs another short-term deal.

Do you think West Ham should offer a one-year contract to Jesse Lingard?
