Three Chelsea players you should sign in FPL for the 2023/24 season
1. Ben Chilwell (5.5M) – DEF
Here at The Top Flight, we’ve already picked Chilwell as one of the best FPL defender choices available. At a reasonable cost, Ben Chilwell (12.4% selected) is an excellent option as an offensive-minded defender in your FPL team. While there are absolute concerns about fitness and staying healthy. Chilwell will be a regular starter under Mauricio Pochettino. He’s been named vice-captain, which should signal how often he will be playing.
In a shortened season for the defender, last season Chilwell picked up 5 goal contributions in just 23 Premier League matches. There’s a good chance he outproduce that number this season.
2. Reece James (5.5M) – DEF
Much like Chilwell, James can be a steal if he can stay healthy. Just two seasons ago, Reece recorded 141 FPL points after picking up 14 goal contributions in just 26 Premier League matches. In an offensive system under Mauricio Pochettino, James could have a bounce-back season offensively and really rack up the points. With Chelsea’s restructured defense, there’s a chance for a lot of clean sheets here as well. James is currently selected by 15.1% of players.
Unsurprisingly but James will be the first name on the team sheet for Chelsea this season. He has been named captain and will be expected to go the full length in most matches.
3. Nicolas Jackson (7.0M) – FWD
Newcomer Nicolas Jackson is one to watch this season at the forward position. Perhaps seen as an expensive price at first glance, Jackson should be given ample opportunity to score plenty for Chelsea. While they weren’t playing the same position, Christopher Nkunku’s injury should confirm that Jackson will be a regular starter in the Chelsea frontline this season. The Senegal international has joined from Villarreal, where he recorded 16 goal contributions in 26 matches in La Liga last season.
Jackson had a fantastic pre-season in the US with Chelsea, recording 5 goal contributions in 5 games, including a goal and two assists against Premier League side Brighton. With a respectable 15.1% selection, Jackson is a nice bet to end the season with one of the highest FPL point totals among forwards.
