Everton looked down and out last season. It looked like the historic Merseyside club were destined to play in the second tier of English football, but thankfully for the fans, the board made the right decision by appointing new manager Sean Dyche.

Dyche’s work towards the end of the season, which included a win against rampant Arsenal in his first match of his new campaign, has warranted him keeping the job.

But now the former Burnley boss is being asked to perform greatly in the transfer window. Certainly, the Toffees need it after last season. However, one thing about the transfer window which is often overlooked is not the acquisition of new signings, but keeping your best players from moving elsewhere.

Everton boss Sean Dyche wants to keep Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who is certainly one of Everton’s best options, is linked with a move away. The England international is most notably rumoured to be of interest in the Serie A, where Roma are interested in signing him.

However, according to the Daily Mail, Dyche doesn’t plan to part ways with Calvert-Lewin, despite the interest. Dyche has openly defended the striker, claiming that he did not want to rush him back from injury as his presence is too great to risk further injury.

Speaking of injuries, this is the side of Calvert-Lewin’s game which lets him down the most. He is very injury prone and this was again demonstrated last season. With two different injuries last season (one being a hamstring and the other being his knee), the tall striker missed a combined 14 matches. This is likely what cost Everton last season.

Do you think Dominic Calvert-Lewin will prove his worth next season?
