A Christmas gift for the fans of each Premier League team

Nottingham Forest (Current league position 18th)

None of the 5 players who travelled to Qatar went deep with their teams into the tournament and Forest will need all hands on deck from the off as they seek to continue their quest to stay in the Premier League. With potential 6-pointers looming in January against Southampton, Leicester and Bournemouth, the ideal present for fans will be to turn around the worst goal-difference in the Premier League (-19) and secure transfer window signings at both ends of the pitch.

Southampton (Current league position 19th)

The World Cup probably came at the right time for Southampton who parted ways with manager Ralf Hasenhutl in early November after a disappointing run of form. New manager Nathan Jones narrowly avoided an unwanted banana skin on their December return when his team came from behind to beat Lincoln City in the Carabao Cup. Along with their fellow Premier League strugglers, Saints will be vying for a late Christmas present in the January Transfer window to change their fortunes and preserve their 10-year stay in the top flight.

Tottenham (Current league position 4th)

Spurs took some patchy form into the World Cup break, but still sit in 4th place and boast a host of stars returning from Qatar after impressive performances, not least Cup winning Argentinian defender Cristian Romero and French goalkeeper Hugo Lloris. Positive results in their opening games, which include two London derbies against Brentford and Crystal Palace, could setup a promising second half and grant Spurs fans the Christmas present of their undisputed global talent pulling together  en route to a serious run at some silverware in 2023.
