Newcastle United

You’d be hard-pressed to find a player Newcastle haven’t been linked to this transfer window and Christian Eriksen’s proposed availability will no doubt have piqued their interest.

Eddie Howe began the first step of the Magpies’ new dawn in January, recruiting players with the immediate goal of avoiding relegation in mind. Now that has been achieved, the former Bournemouth boss will turn his attention to building on his side’s remarkable eleventh-place finish.

The signing of Eriksen would certainly signal that intent and this factor could encourage higher-ups at the Tyneside club to secure his services. Howe’s 4-3-3 formation is well-suited to Eriksen and the thought of him forming a partnership with Bruno Guimaraes would strike fear into opponents in 2022/23.

Contrary to romanticism, the addition would limit the roles of both Joe Willock and Joelinton. The two impressed last season with Joelinton viewed by many as the revelation of the season league-wide never mind at Newcastle.
