Chelsea’s best three players after 11 Premier League games played
This was an easier shout than the last but it still surprising knowing the best player so far is a defender rather than one of the top talents up front for Chelsea.
Honestly, it was tough to choose from this list of Chelsea players with all of them doing their part and executing it almost perfectly.
However, there has been a player above the rest; a player who is a defender but taking his chances like a striker. That player is none other than right back Reece James.
He has been the club’s biggest contributor this season and has given both Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joao Cancelo a run for their money in the quest for the best right back in the Premier League and Europe.
James has been the Blues most valuable asset with four goals and three assists. Despite a questionable red card, he hasn’t put a foot wrong. Without the young Englishman’s contribution in a pair of games, they would have dropped points undoubtedly.
The important thing about James blowing all away with his performances at Stamford Bridge, the battle between him and the other two fullbacks (and the others not their league) is getting more intense and challenging.
Crazy to think: Chelsea spent £98million on Romelu Lukaku but it is their homegrown talent who is running the show in the opening stages of the campaign. Even though he signed a new deal last year in 2020, a new one could very well be on its way already.
Honourable mentions:
- Jorginho
- César Azpilicueta
- Andreas Christensen
Chelsea kick starts the weekend’s action against an inconsistent Leicester City. We could be in for a bucket load of goals or a single goal that takes all three points — it all depends on what Foxes show up.
