FPL: Best and Worst Performers of Gameweek 4 – Buy or Sell
Michail Antonio (West Ham United) – £7.9m
After a fantastic start to the season – with 4 goals and 4 assists in the first 3 games – Antonio and West Ham did not look up to the task at St Mary’s Stadium against Southampton this weekend.
90 minutes of frustration was boiling over for Antonio, who took out his anger with a careless tackle – ultimately gifting him his second yellow card of the match. This means he will be forced to miss the big clash against Manchester United in Gameweek 5.
With David Moyes admitting that Antonio’s minutes would be managed throughout the season to prevent injury – he would not have envisioned a red card being the way to go about this.
However, with transfers being very valuable in FPL at this stage of the season, it may be the sensible move to bench Antonio for GW5 – assuming you have a playing bench at hand.
With Leeds and Brentford in the next 2 fixtures after GW5, Antonio can very easily regain his momentum and punish those teams – especially the susceptible Leeds United who are currently short on centre-backs due to injuries and suspensions.
This is why I will be holding onto Antonio, despite the 1-week ban.
