First Place: Chelsea

Unsurprisingly I have predicted that Chelsea will continue where they left off from in Europe’s most elite competition, finishing top of the group, and although there may be hiccups along the way, this Chelsea team’s ambitions go way further than simply getting out of the group stages.

However, it is important that Tuchel ensures that his side remains focused on the teams in front of them as trips to Turin and Saint Peterburg are renowned for being unforgiving places to go.

An interesting element will be how much or little the German manager decides to rotate his squad, with a sustained title challenge also on the agenda this season. He certainly has the means to do so but players such as Lukaku that’ll be desperate to extend their scoring tallies will not take lightly to being dropped.

The new additions of Saul Niguez and the latterly mentioned, supplement a squad that was already capable of repeating last season’s escapades but now it is hard to see a team that may halt Chelsea until later into the competition.

Key Player: Romelu Lukaku

It may seem like an obvious pick, but the overall feeling is that the likes of Chelsea and fellow finalists Man City, will have greater competition this season.

Considering the transfer business completed by United and PSG over the summer along with the resurgence of Bayern Munich; adding a guaranteed source of goals could be the causal factor in seeing them retain the trophy for the first time in their history.
