Premier League Clubs Flirting with the Drop

15. Burnley

Burnley will be bouncing around the lower end of the table all the way through the season, having brought in a grand total of zero players. That will no doubt anger Sean Dyche more, Burnley will stay down at the bottom because of this.

I have them being safe in fifteenth because of the Premier League experience they have. I don’t doubt that Chris Wood, Ashley Barnes and a solid back two can help them stay up. It will be a very boring season for Burnley fans, and if it’s not then I can only see them going down.

16. Crystal Palace

A new look Crystal Palace will struggle as they attempt to move on from Roy Hodgson with Arsenal legend Patrick Viera taking over. Palace have recruited fairly well, bringing in a lot of talent from the Championship and Joachim Anderson, who proved his worth with Fulham last year.

But it is Viera’s inexperience and the team’s over-reliance on Wilfried Zaha for goals that will see this team languish down the bottom. This is one that I could be really wrong with but looks like a transitional team that will take a while to get going.

17. Southampton

Southampton look a team being slowly pulled apart and lacking belief. I doubt that will change this year. Ralph Hassenhuttl, has been riding his laurels for a bit too long and the loss of Danny Ings will be huge come to the end of the season.

Bringing in Adam Armstrong may plug a hole if he gets off to a good start, but if Saints come out playing like they did last year, they will only stay up on the back of James Ward-Prowse, and they still might lose him.

Southampton struggle from the off, but just might have enough, seventeenth.
