Manchester City want to buy Aston Villa star Jack Grealish — and won’t mind breaking the transfer record to get him, according to Daily Mail.

According to the report, Pep Guardiola is a huge fan of Jack Grealish, and his ability to play both on the wings and centrally makes Grealish a big target for Manchester City.

Jack Grealish has had an amazing season for Aston Villa. Even though he missed a bunch of games due to injury, Grealish still had a very good season, scoring six goals and assisting 10 more playing on the wings.

Grealish signed a contract extension last year, so that will add to the cost as well.

There have been rumours of other top clubs also being interested in the Englishman.

Anyway, Grealish has said that he wouldn’t mind playing in a more central position and it would make sense in a lot of ways.

He is fast, but he’s not the fastest. He has an eye for goal from distance, and his vision is excellent. The way he executes his passes in the tight spaces is something I am really interested in seeing more of next season.

If Manchester City pay that much for a player of Grealish’s quality, it’s kind of a given that he will play the majority of the games. If so, who misses out? Who goes to the bench if that happens?

If Manchester City get Jack Grealish, Raheem Sterling might struggle for game time

Right now, in the positions that Grealish can play in, they have players like Kevin De Bruyne, Gundogan, Phil Foden, Sterling, and Bernardo Silva (when he plays as a central midfielder). Which player is more likely to go to the bench?

By my estimate, Guardiola would likely rotate between Foden and Grealish, which will leave Sterling struggling for minutes.

Sterling hasn’t had the best season ever, and that’s the only reason why I would put him below the other stars.

But one thing we know about Guardiola is this: He likes rotations a lot. He’s a brilliant tactician who utilises his squad to the fullest. He usually keeps his players happy and it would make sense if Grealish joins the club.

But having too many players can be a problem, even for a manager like Guardiola. He will need to play him as much as he can, given the amount of money that’s going into it.

We don’t know how much truth is behind this report, but if it is true and it materializes, then I think someone will have to leave to make space for Grealish.
