The summer transfer window is fast approaching, and Premier League clubs should be drawing up potential targets. One team that will be looking for a big summer transfer window is Everton.

With a chance to make their way into European competitions next season, the Toffees will be looking to make some big improvements.

We will be taking a look at some potential Everton transfer targets that would make sense in this upcoming transfer window.

Where should the Toffees look to improve this summer?

Everton have done a good job in getting near to the top of the table this season. But they will need to continue to make improvements if they are to make a run at a Champions League place.

Bringing in competition for Dominic Calvert-Lewin should be one of the priorities of their transfer strategy for the summer.

More from Everton

Calvert-Lewin is a fantastic player who should continue to improve, but bringing in another striker would help a lot and take some of the scoring responsibilities off him.

He has scored 16 Premier League goals this season and the closest to him are Richarlison, James Rodríguez, and Gylfi Sigurðsson with all of them on six goals apiece.

Another area of need for Everton would be in the defense. They have been linked with both center-back and fullback in recent weeks, so it is pretty safe to say that will be major target areas.

It has also been rumored that Everton have added Yerry Mina to the transfer list, so they will surely be looking for a replacement for him.

With Mina in and out of the team because of his inconsistency, Carlo Ancelotti has had to chop and change and look for his best pairing, which is really hard to call because of the poor form defending.

For this season that has been Michael Keane and whoever else, mostly Mason Holgate and Mina with Ben Godfrey even getting a go as a center-back.

Together they have conceded 42 goals. That’s the second-most goals conceded by a team inside the top 10 of the EPL standings.

Taking a look at potential Everton transfer targets in attack

It seems that the current plan for Everton is to bring in a new striker, and a top one at that. Somebody to challenge DLC or potentially replace him.

Big clubs around Europe have been monitoring the Englishman’s situation. One of the top targets at striker is Tammy Abraham, who is being made available by Chelsea.

The only catch is that he would only be available for a pretty hefty sum. A cheaper alternative to Tammy Abraham could be Hwang Hee-chan.

He hasn’t been playing at his best since making the switch to Leipzig from Salzburg, and for that reason, he could be available for a lot less than Tammy.

If he can recapture his form from Salzburg then it could be a very shrewd piece of business.

Another potential alternative at the striker position is Ivan Toney. Toney has been on fire for Brentford this season and is sure to be on the move this summer.

If Everton could wrap up this transfer for the striker position it would be a huge boost for the club.

Taking a look at Everton’s potential defensive targets

One player who has been linked with Everton a lot over the past few months is Max Aarons. The Norwich fullback is extremely talented and is being linked with plenty of clubs.

As of a recent report from Fabrizio Romano, there may actually be so much competition for his signature which has forced the Goodison Park outfit to pull out of the race altogether.

Ronald Araujo is the center back that is being linked with Everton. Apparently, Barcelona is not interested in selling the player.

But that could change over the course of the summer as Eric Garcia joins Barcelona from Manchester City. Araujo game time could be a threat and become limited with the Manchester City man almost signed and sealed as a Catalan player.

Kalidou Koulibaly is most likely the top target for Everton in the central defense area. Carlo Ancelotti’s former player is highly rated and will be tough to bring over from Napoli.

Their fortunes could change for the best with the Naples club suffering from financial difficulties all season. They may be forced to sell their best outfielders.

However, if the Toffees are able to bring him in they will immediately improve their defense.

Who do you think the top Everton transfer targets will be this summer?
