Manchester United and all the European giants have been regularly linked with a move for arguably the best young forward in the game, Erling Haaland.
There has been a lot of gaga over Manchester United’s summer transfer window. The club is precariously placed second in the Premier League standings and have secured their spot in the quarterfinals of the Europa League.
However, the club and its manager are facing a lot of criticism because of their inability to score in crucial games and knockout fixtures. They have come short in all of the domestic competitions because they failed to bury their allotted chances.
This could even be said for the Champions League game against Paris St Germain. Anthony Martial’s incompetence in front of goal saw him miss easy sitters which cost United the game.
There is a demand to sign Erling Braut Haaland
There is a demand to sign a young and prolific striker and Erling Braut Haaland seems to be one of the potential players to fill the No.9 role at Old Trafford.
The 6′ 3″ towering striker has caught the attention of the Red Devils and other European giants owing to his prolific striking performance. The 20-year-old has scored 21 goals in the Bundesliga before heading to the international break.
He is the joint-second highest goalscorer in the German top flight with only Robert Lewandowski ahead of him. With the last part of the season left to be played, there is no doubt that the player will reach 30.
The stats are staggering and the fans are right in demanding their club to sign the former Molde striker.
Manchester United tried to wrap up a deal for the player in the previous summer but the club couldn’t reach an agreement with the player because of the release clause.
However, with multiple players firing blanks at Stretford End, Ed Woodward has turned his attention towards signing the player.
Despite an eye for goal and blistering pace, here are the reasons why Manchester United shouldn’t sign Erling Braut Haaland.

#1) The infamous agent and unreasonable demands of Haaland
Manchester United has had some of the worst experiences with one of football’s super agents, Mino Raiola. The agent has always affected the club with his negative comments despite them being patient with his respective clients employed by the club.
Recently, he made some controversial statements regarding the treatment of Paul Pogba at Old Trafford despite the player being happy.
Sadly, the damage was already done and this was ahead of their crucial Champions League encounter against RB Leipzig. The club would not like to invite more trouble by signing another player with the same agent.
According to recent reports, the former Salzburg player is demanding a sum of £300,000-a-week from his next club. The player’s demands could derail Manchester United’s wage structure.
Since Ole’s appointment, the club hasn’t handed any big contracts to their players and has gotten rid of Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku, who were some of the highest earners at the club.
Moreover, Raiola might once again push for the lower release clause as he did with Borussia Dortmund, which is again a drawback for a brand as big as Manchester United.
#2) Manchester United have other departments to fill in
Manchester United failed to sign Sancho after they chased him the whole of last summer. They have multiple positions elsewhere to fill with a small budget. Haaland can be a costly affair.
Of late, the manager has failed to address the chinks in his armor. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is consistently playing Fred and Scott McTominay who have failed to live up to the hype in crucial games.
Moreover, the failure of Fred to put disciplined performances in the games against PSG (Champions League Leipzig loss) and Leicester City (FA Cup loss) have raised questions about his spot in the starting line-up. Also, the aging Nemanja Matic has to be replaced.
Included with these midfield problems, Paul Pogba is expected to depart in the upcoming months despite contract talks said to be ongoing.
Solskjaer will look to address this situation as soon as possible, giving him and the board an idea of what they working with during the transfer window.
There has been a lot of questions raised about the center-back duo of Lindelof and Harry Maguire. They have been shaky and have never looked confident.
The club is rumored to want to sign Pau Torres and Jules Kounde from the Spanish La Liga. They won’t come cheap and have to shell out huge funds for the pair.
Signing Haaland would spoil the club’s transfer strategies which has been working better of late.

#3) Youngsters rising through the ranks and availability of other strikers
Ed Woodward can sign Danny Ings or Lautaro Martinez at a lower cost if the club is looking for a striker.
The stats and Haaland’s form are difficult to neglect and ignore. Although, United have their fair share of problems when it comes to signing strikers.
Mason Greenwood has risen from the U-23s to the first team and is threatening Anthony Martial for his spot.
Added to the competition, Shola Shoretire has been promoted to the first team and has already made his debut for the Red Devils.

Adding one more striker of a similar age might cause disruptions to their development.
Moreover, the fanbase is expecting immediate results when it comes to trophies and players must deliver on arrival.
The pressure is slowly building on the manager to win at least one trophy in the next season.
To mount a title challenge, they need an experienced striker as well.
With a lot of options available in the market for cheap, Erling Braut Haaland might be a financial liability for the English top-flight outfit.
Haaland is currently valued at €110 million and clubs like Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Chelsea are after the Borussia Dortmund striker.
This would inflate the price of the striker if Manchester United were to prize him away from BVB. The expensive buys have been some of the worst ones at Old Trafford.
