The EFL Championship has been a hunting ground for several clubs in the Premier League. With the January transfer window open, these three players can earn a big move to the top flight.

The winter transfer window has opened and the rumors have started to gain a lot of steam. Along with the rumors, few deals have already been completed by clubs and they are on the verge of securing new players.

Arsenal have already parted ways with Sead Kolasinac whereas Manchester United are waiting for Amad Diallo to arrive from Atalanta.

The relegation battle is already on and teams fighting for survival are looking for a breath of fresh air with new signings.

The beauty of the Championship it is difficult to differentiate the top performers in the competition, so there are always many to choose from.

However, there are few players from the second-tier competition who are on the verge of making it to the big clubs.

Here are three players from the EFL Championship who top-tier clubs should keep an eye on while we are busy with the winter transfer window.

1. Dael Fry

It is Middlesbrough’s fourth season in succession in the second-tier. Since their relegation in 2016/17, the club has failed to make it to the Premier League again.

However, they might make it this time after they find themselves in seventh place, behind sixth-placed Watford.

Middlesbrough has the joint second-best defensive record in the Championship this season and credit goes to Neil Warnock’s tactics and Dael Fry’s rock-solid performance at the back.

The right-footed central defender has been a rock at the heart of Warnock’s defense. Standing tall at 6’4”, Fry has accumulated great numbers in 18 starts for Boro.

The likes of West Brom, Leeds United, and Crystal Palace have struggled to contain opposition from scoring goals. The 23-year-old is a good reader of the game and has 42 interceptions to his name.

Should the player wait for Boro’s promotion or should he make the move to the top flight? The player has every trick in the bag which an EPL manager demands in the top flight.

2. Adam Armstrong

Better known as the EFL Championship veteran due to his successive loan spells for various clubs like Coventry City, Barnsley, and Blackburn Rovers – Adam Armstrong has created an aura of his own in the lower division.

The Tyneside player has a great eye for goal and can be a great addition for the likes of Sheffield United and West Brom who have struggled to score this season.

The Blackburn Rovers player has reached double-figures for the second year in a row with 16 goals already this season. He has also contributed with three assists.

With 24 games left for Blackburn Rovers, Adam Armstrong might be heading towards big numbers.

It is strange that no club has come calling for the former Newcastle player. With Blackburn Rovers five points off a play-off position, it is the right time for the clubs to snap up Adam Armstrong for a lower fee.

3. Michael Olise

The attacking midfielder has taken the league by storm and as a result of his fine form, Reading are in contention for a play-off spot.

Though it is early for naming promotion contenders, Reading has been a club that are set to end their seven-year Premier League absences.

They find themselves fifth on the points table with 40 points in their kitty.

The French attacking midfielder has put a serious shift in the midfield and has featured in all 23 games for the club. Michael Olise has 12 G/A to his name in the EFL Championship.

He has also operated on the flanks for his side and has put 98 crosses in 1475 minutes for the team.

With several bottom-table clubs struggling to create chances, Michael Olise might be the answer.
