The solid center-back is non-existent at the Emirates.

The glaring issue has remained for several years with the club tried to add cheaper reinforcements by signing players on loan or at a cut-price. Sadly, it hasn’t worked out as well.

Arsenal signed Pablo Mari in the winter transfer window but has featured in only two games. The player might be out for the rest of the season with him going under the knife after their first fixture back and sustaining an injury.

Observing Arsenal’s past defensive signings, one thing can be inferred. No matter who the Gunners sign, the deals are not working out for them. Arsenal signed Sokratis Papasthopolous, but he proved inconsistent.

A rock-solid center-back from Valencia, Shkodran Mustafi failed to live up to the hype in North London. Their recent signing Kieran Tierney for £25 million can prove to be a decent addition to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, but one decent signing cannot solve the entire issue.
