Salah has hit form at the perfect time for Klopp. After losing Mane it was sure Liverpool would struggle. But that notion was soon dismissed as Liverpool takes all the points available to them whenever they play.

The king of Africa pulled up in the 33rd minute of the first half in the Wolves victory, three games ago. Gladly the player walked off rather than limped off and gave a clear indication the sideline trip might not be that long.

The real worry was how would the side cope without one of the most reliable goalscoring outlets this season. That and would he have to be rushed back into action, or are the Reds able to keep him rested till the all-important Round of 16 Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid.

Thankfully Mo had made it an easy fix for Klopp. Other than the Egyptian being in red hot form, the whole squad is always ready when called into action. Whoever of the lot steps in for the Anfield side does their job almost precisely perfect.

Salah’s recent numbers

Salah has scored five goals and assisted a further two in his last six Premier League outings. During this six-game period, Liverpool scored a total of 13 goals. That’s just under a 50% goal involvement by the Egyptian king and second in command in Africa.

Many have criticised Mo for having an average campaign and saying he has fallen off from the task of surpassing last season’s numbers. However, the forward has already closed the gap between him the other EPL players leading the leader boards.

Salah’s 2019-2020 numbers

  • Appearances  – 29 (All competitions)
  • EPL Goals – 14 Goals
  • UCL Goals  – 4 Goals
  • EPL Assists – 6 Assists
  • UCL Assists  – 2 Assists

He is now three shy of catching the leader Jamie Vardy after the Englishman and Leicester City has experienced a dip in form. He is joint third with Marcus Rashford, Danny Ings, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, behind second-placed, Sergio Aguero.

He has only failed to contribute in nine of the 25 played this term. Does that sound like a player out of touch? Far from it!
