Fixtures

I’ve included the fixture rankings both looking at just the opposition and looking at a score that allows for the team’s own strengths.

I have been looking at how useful these rankings are and currently, the 2nd is much more in line with the actual points scored by teams. I am going to do a bit more digging and publish something on here hopefully in the coming weeks.

Looking solely at opposition ranking:

  • Sheffield United look great, attacking options are limited but if you don’t have Lundstram by now you’re not doing FPL right
  • After a terrible run of fixtures, there is light at the end of the tunnel for Palace, but it’s Liverpool this week so don’t rush straight in
  • Spurs’ fixtures start improving now, just in time for a certain happy manager to take control…
  • Brighton, Bournemouth and Everton look like they’re in trouble

Key Stats

GW12

  • Sterling way out in 1st for pen box touches with 17, followed by Pulisic on 13. Most for forwards were Pukki, Rashford and Jimenez on 9
  • Son and Rashford topped the goal attempts with 7 each, followed by Pulisic on 6 and Jimenez, Wood and Jota on 5
  • Chris Wood had 4 big chances as Burnley demolished West Ham, he only scored 1 of them though!
  • Doherty and Lundstram are the most attacking defenders. Doherty had 8 pen box touches and Lundstram had 4 shots
  • Jimenez is definitely presenting as a double threat as he created 4 chances (level with Willian, Martial, McNeil, McGoldrick and Digne)

GW7-12

  • Raheem Sterling is a distant first for touches in the box with 87, so surely an explosive return is not far away, nearest is Pukki with 44! Followed by Richarlison and Firmino on 41
  • Salah may have fallen away on pen box touches but is still top for goal attempts (23) followed by Willian (21!?) and Maupay, Jimenez and Abraham (20 each)
  • Abraham and Wood are top for big chances (9 each) with Mane on 8, although they have each only scored 2 of them
  • Unsurprisingly Lundstram dominates stats for defenders, top for goal attempts (14) and big chances (4), only beaten by Doherty for touches in the box (21 and 17)
  • It’s much closer in chances created, TAA at the top with 19, followed by Digne and Willian (real differential possibility there!) and KDB sitting on 16, although having played a match fewer
