A couple of weeks and a month remaining before we reach the January summer transfer window. Having it be just around the corner as well as the new year, are we in for a busy summer?

Hours into Thursday and the Premier League has announced the January transfer window dates for the summer. The opening of the second transfer session of the season will take place between Wednesday 1 January and Friday 31 January 2020.

The dates of the January 2020 transfer window for Premier League clubs have been confirmed. The window will open on Wednesday 1 January and close at 23:00 GMT on Friday 31 January 2020.

Some touchy rules for this transfer window as it falls amid an EPL matchday, Matchday 21. The English league has stated all new signings made before the match week will not be eligible to make an appearance for their new club during this time.

New players signed on 1-2 January will not be eligible for Matchweek 21, but they can be made available for the following Matchweeks as clubs are permitted to make changes to their squad lists throughout the January window.

In all honesty, I don’t think there would be a club out there that would risk having their new man play without bleeding him into the team, system, mechanics of the clubs. Other rules include the final day of when submissions will be allowed before the cutoff time.

Clubs completing deals late on Deadline Day, 31 January, will be able to submit a Deal Sheet between 21:00-23:00 GMT. Clubs will have until midnight on Deadline Day to complete the information needed by FIFA’s Transfer Matching System to apply for international clearance for new signings.
