The third round of the Carabao Cup is behind us and not too long after that, the draw for the fourth round was held. Many interesting duels coming from it for the next chain of affairs.

Almost a flawless showing in the EFL Cup 3rd round for EPL outfits. It would have remained four Top Flight clubs, but this is football and if you play the right game, apply the correct strategy, and hope for that little bit of luck to fall your way, then you absolutely are in it to win it.

Joining the first 7 Premier League clubs from Tuesday night’s proceedings are another 5 clubs. Of all the fixtures played out on Wednesday, Oxford United pulled off the best win against a top-flight runner.

EFL Cup Wednesday night results

Oxford United 4-0 West Ham United
MK Dons 0-2 Liverpool
Sheffield United 0-1 Sunderland
Brighton 1-3 Aston Villa
Chelsea 7-1 Grimsby Town
Burton 2-0 Bournemouth
Wolves (4)1-1(2) Reading
Man United (5)1-1(3) Rochdale

Best Premier League club – Chelsea

The best performance came from London inside Stamford Bridge. Eight goals for the Chelsea and Grimsby fans to enjoy. Not that the latter was happy to concede seven goals to Frank Lampard’s side, but no doubt it was entertaining for them.

Chelsea on the night was the team with the third-highest shots at goal with 24 shots. Only Man United (31 shots) and Aston Villa (28 shots) were more than the Blues. All three sides won their fixture, with United struggling the most.

Ole’s United side have now only scored one goal in 180 minutes of football. Back to the drawing board for all involved at Old Trafford. The next run in for Lampard and Chelsea comes in the shape of Man United at the bridge.
