Defensive Picks

Lukasz Fabianski (GK, 4.5m, Cardiff at home)

West Ham won 3-0 at the weekend, but 3rd in the bonus point ranks was Fabianski! He made 4 saves and countless other interventions that kept West Ham in the game. At just 4.5m he is a great option to put in goal over the Christmas period , and you will be guaranteed a few clean sheets and a lot of saves, with hopefully a couple more bonus points as well.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka (DEF, 4.2m, Brighton away)

Palace made it through their tough set of fixtures and showed some potential for the better fixtures coming up. Wan-Bissaka is the best option in their back line purely due to the price tag that FPL managers love. He has shown in other games that he can be an attacking asset as well (1 assist on the opening day) and now he offers a cut price defensive option that allows you to invest more further up the pitch.

Midweek action to get the busy period going – Tuesday fixtures. dark. Next

Steer Clear

Ricardo Pereira (DEF, 5.1m, Fulham away)

A lot of people are looking at Pereira but I think that’s a rather short-sighted move. Leicester’s defence is notoriously inconsistent (remember when they conceded 4 against Bournemouth), and their good fixture run is essentially over. They have one last good game against Fulham, although Ranieri has got them organised and hard to beat, and then they play Spurs, Chelsea and City in the space of 4 matches. There are better options in this mid-price defensive bracket such as Doherty, Coleman or TAA.
