The Argentine led his La Liga side to an almost invincible campaign. It took one team to stop Barcelona from doing something simply, amazing.

Going unbeaten for 99% of the season, only to lose one match before the end of season. Hats off to the team who stopped Messi and Co in doing so.

However, it did not stop the Catalan side from taking the Spanish title for the 25th time in the club’s history.

Messi also took them all the way to triumph in the Copa del Rey but failed in their attempt to take another treble – after exiting the Champions League to AS Roma in the quarterfinals.
