Southampton 0-1 Man City

The Saints were relegation eligible entering the St. Mary’s Stadium for a contest with the champions, Manchester City. Stoke helped Southampton out by forcing a Swansea loss which meant any result for the Saints would still mean safety.

Southampton was seconds away from earning a draw and stopping Manchester City from making history. Gabriel Jesus’ game-winning goal in stoppage time sent Guardiola and the Citizen players into a frenzy. The champions crown got some added jewels to complete the most dominant season in Premier League history.

The goal means that Manchester City is the first team in Premier League history with 100 points. Add 100 points with 32 wins and 106 goals and you have the best season in Premier League history. Second place Manchester United finished 29 points behind their rivals.

The Saints end on 36 points and 17th-place. Changes will need to be made if Southampton wants to have a much easier season in the Premier League for 2018-19. The loss of all their superstars finally came back to bite them this season.
