There was no doubt Manchester City was going to take all the points against their visitors, Brighton. 3-1 a final score fit to set new records.

Early goals from both teams gave scares of a Huddersfield’s repeat happening however, the champions were quick to react and started off the one-team show, not long after conceding and put the game to bed with another two. One in either half.

Brighton were lucky enough to do all the hard work in their previous triumph, when they upset the tides and beat City neighbours to a 1-0 ball game. Having achieved their goal of Premier League survival in the first of three ultimate tests – the foot could be off the gas and a loss like this will be taken with a pinch of salt.

Man City’s victory was calls for more celebrations as the champs set a new record for most wins, most goals, and most points by a single team in a Premier League campaign. If they follow this up with a win against Southampton at St Mary’s, the record gets taken further.

Tottenham 1-0 Newcastle

The first of two teams from London playing for Champions League rights passed the Toon test, when they did just enough against a team hard to beat since the turn of year. Spurs one goal scored by single-man party, Harry Kane was scored just at the start of the second half.

It was enough to see them jump into third place, two points above Liverpool. The North Londoners can safely say… They made it. Another season above their North London rivals, with no silverware, but another shot at the Champions League – will be enough for their fans to be excited for next season.

Rafa’s men put on a great show at Wembley after recording more shots at goal than the home side. They were absolutely their normal selves when they were wasteful in front of goal. Of Newcastle’s 14 shots, only three were recorded on target.

Newcastle’s loss affects them in a minor way. They sit equal on points with another three teams and have visitors in the shape of Chelsea coming over to them in their final tie.
