Premier League: Five Players Eyeing Moves To Bigger Teams?
By Luke Duffy
Bafetimbi Gomis – Swansea
For Bafetimbi Gomis, his season at Swansea has featured all of the emotions. At one point an afterthought behind the excellent Wilfried Bony, he was suddenly called upon when the hulking Ivorian joined Manchester City during the January transfer window. Although problems with his health gave fans a scare, he bounced back from some listless performances to really come into his own at the tail end of the season.

Indeed, he scored two of his seven goals this year against Arsenal, one in each fixture against the London club. His touch gradually got better, as did his eye for goal. All of this was there to begin with, it just took some time for him to find his footing after being so unexpectedly called upon when Bony left. It took a while for the confidence to come.
At 29 he may be a little old to move on to a team for big bucks, and his goal return hardly inspired either. However it appeared he turned a corner at the right time during the season, to the point where he will likely return a revitalised man for the next campaign. Nabbing him now at a relatively modest price could pay off in a big way down the road.
His strength and ability in the air are impressive enough as it is. But his nimble footwork and willingness to throw himself at any ball bolster his case as one of the better up and coming strikers in the league. Like Bony and Michu before him, he may be about to deliver a super season, before moving on to bigger and better things (Which we should mention is what Bony did but not Michu, the Spaniard faded spectacularly into the distance once he left Wales).
